How to Make Changes in Your Life: Start From Where You Are

The 30 day Get Healthy Change Challenge has begun, and you may be thinking to yourself all kinds of things (especially if you’ve discovered the challenge part way through the month). One of the thoughts that may pop up when you think about making changes is this sense that you are so far from where you want to be, either you’re not sure how to start or even if there is any point to start. But there is a reason to start making changes in your life as soon as you decide they are important rather than waiting for the right moment. Essentially what I want to show you is that the best way to start making changes in your life is to just start from where you are and go from there and here is why.

Start From Where You Are and Avoid Procrastination

So, you may have come to the 30 day change challenge and you might be thinking something along the lines of, “But I’m not ready yet, I have to wait to change… I can’t really start now.”

But the truth is you can. If you start now and start from where you are then there is no opportunity for procrastination. It’s true you won’t be prepared for everything that will come your way on the change journey but that’s life and that’s the point. If you wanted everything to stay the same you wouldn’t be thinking about making these changes. But of course you don’t want to overwhelm yourself, so starting from where you are and making improvements from there is the only way to go.

In a nut shell, just go for it, just do it!

You Learn as You Grow

The reason you start from where you are when you begin to make changes in your life is because you learn things you need along the way. You’ll learn new skills and grow and things that may have seemed difficult and impossible standing at the start line become less of an obstacle and more achievable.

It’s like climbing a steepish hill. From the bottom looking up the road a head looks treacherous and difficult, but if you take the journey one step at a time part of that hill is behind you and the rest of the journey is a head. But you have a different perspective where you are after you have been making changes for some time because you see that you can actually succeed and do the things you always wanted to do.

You Build Momentum and Proof of Success

When you just start making changes from where you are then you will just have to go with the flow but you have no idea if you can actually do what you set out to do. Some of you may think you can achieve your goal but have no proof. But what is really beneficial is that as you begin to make changes you get to see that you can do what you set out to do.

Every time you implement the change that you want you prove to yourself that you can do it! You can change and even though there may be obstacles you can overcome them one by one and find the change you’re looking for in your life.

Change then becomes like this snowball that builds momentum and grows your confidence in yourself. Just imagine if you could conquer your fear of heights wouldn’t you feel like you could do anything?

The same is true for all kinds of other changes you want to make in your life.

Start Now Start Today Start Where you Are

The crux of the matter is change is hard and it’s hard no matter when or where you start. But the only way to make changes in your life is to stop procrastinating and start from where you are. And when you begin your change journey be ready to learn and grow in ways you could never even think of when you started. Enjoy the feeling of step by step success and really feel the momentum and snowball of proof that shows you that you can do absolutely anything you set your mind to.
