Master the Power of the Dreamer & the Doer & Stop Wasting Time

In order to make the most of your life and time, it is important to know what to focus on. In order to find happiness and fulfillment, there are four parts of you that need to be utilized in order for you to find success. The Dreamer and the Doer, the Doubter and the Distracter. Harnessing the power of the Dreamer and the Doer really is the juice you want in your life. But it is easy to get weighed down by the Doubter and the Distracter and we don’t want you to give up on your dreams halfway to them becoming a reality. So, let’s find out how you can maximize your life and build the life of your dreams whilst being aware of these four elements.

The Dreamer

In the past, you may have had ideas of what you want your life to look like and spent many hours imagining or daydreaming of the possibilities.

The Dreamer plays an important role in your dream building process. This is because you need to tap into those visceral and subconscious passions and interests you may have come to suppress or ignore. The Dreamer has a tendency of getting lost in the clouds and come up with some unrealistic suggestions. Whilst somethings may be within your means and abilities others may not.

When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up? Maybe you thought you wanted to be a rock star, or a doctor, or an astronaut. Whilst all these things were possible, your young self wasn’t concerned with the logistics they just had the dream! As a youngster, you were uninhibited by the practicalities of life. And as an adult that is the power that the Dreamer in you possesses.

You can harness the power of the Dreamer in order to figure out in which areas of your life you might step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. The Dreamer helps you to forget the practicalities of life and know where your heart lies on a matter.

The Doer

The Doer is your friend and ally, this is the you that gets things done. The power of the Doer is in the actionable steps it helps you take toward your goals. It is the engine that figures out the solutions to problems and tackles the hurdles that have popped up along your path to achieving success. The Doer is a realist rather than an optimist like the Dreamer.

If you want to continue to maximize your life and working toward the life of your dreams, then mastering the power of The Doer is critical.

The Doer is a worker and a hustler and if you keep it busy the doubter won’t have time to call at you and tell you all the reasons why your dream building plan won’t work.

The Doubter

The Doubter is the pessimistic part of you. It will be that voice that tells you no, or you can’t. It’s the voice saying you’re not good enough, you don’t have the skills now and never will, you couldn’t ever learn these skills, you don’t have the capacity to change.

The Doubter plays on your deepest darkest fears, the fear of failure, or the fear of never being enough. If you let the doubter start to be the king in your mind you will lose motivation and the momentum to take action. Your Doer may become sluggish and maybe you still keep doing things but you’re not excelling. When you are under the influence of the Doubter you are not really being the best you can be or maximizing your life.

Wouldn’t it be better for you to get to say, “Wow this life is awesome, I get to do what I love, live my passion, and give the gift of my personal happiness and fulfillment to those around me, because it will rub off.”

When you aren’t pandering to the Doubter’s needs you have more opportunity to love your life and others will start to question why they can’t have a little more sunshine too.

So, the Doubter is a killer of momentum and a killer of courage. You can’t listen to this guy or you’ll get stuck. But there are other ways of getting stuck too, which brings us to the Distracter!

The Distracter

The Distracter is the one that comes in and sidetracks you –if you let it, it will derail everything you’re working towards.

This is the part of you who gets you knee deep in social media or gets you stuck watching YouTube cat videos. In the blink of an eye all that time that you wished you had to spend on building the life of your dreams just vanishes. The Distracter is all about stopping you from getting where you want to go.

So, if you want to make time for maximizing the good things in your life then you have to learn to deal forcefully with the Distracter.

Like the Doubter, the Distracter is fed by emotion, but as well as negativity the Distracter employs other feelings like boredom to get you off track.

The Distracter can be fed by external sources too and easily lead you to a place where you’re doing anything but what was on your priority list.

Maybe you said you wanted to spend more time learning to cook. But then you get invited out for dinner with this group of friends on that day, and another group of friends on that day. You reason that you haven’t seen your friends in a while and before you know it every night of the week eating take out. Not exactly according to plan.

Putting it all together – Mastering the Power of the Dreamer and the Doer

It’s hard to find the balance between the occasional distraction and what would be a complete waste of your time. And it’s not always an easy or obvious choice. But once you’re aware of the Distracter you can begin to combat it and be more conscious about the choices you make. It will become easier to put away the distractions and utilize the time you have to purposefully move forward. Instead of putting up invisible barriers for yourself you can find ways to really get to where you want to be in the time that you have. This is how you maximize your life!

And while you’re busy hustling and being a Doer, the Distracter won’t have time to sidetrack you with 23 ideas of what you could be doing instead.

An Example of the Power of the Dreamer and the Doer in action

For example, your Dreamer may wish to Climb Mount Everest. Whilst this is certainly possible the reality is, you have to be pretty fit and enjoy climbing mountains. In preparation for achieving a dream like this, you may want to climb some smaller mountains and save some money in order to pay for the trip.

So maybe after some thought, you decide that you’d love to try mountain climbing, and plan a holiday around that. Or maybe you decide after doing some research that climbing is not really your cup of tea but maybe hiking or even walking is more your speed.

Whatever the case may be you can adapt and take action on any of the ideas your Dreamer conjures up but be sure to prioritize.

The final powerful word to maximize your life

With a little creativity, you can adapt your dreams and make them exist in the real world. And through the process, you will be able to prove to yourself that despite the occasional whisper from the Doubter and the pull of the Distracter you can do anything you set your mind to. This is the power of the Doer combined with the imagination of the Dreamer. And if you do this you can maximize your life and learn to live with power and purpose.
