5 Ways to Master Your Inner Superhero

With the rise in the popularity of all thing’s superhero, I thought now would be a good time to teach you how to master your inner superhero. We all have been exposed to the superhero comics and movies, television shows and merchandise. But how do we, flawed humans master out inner superhero, after all, we don’t have superpowers… Or do we?

Superheroes Choose to be Superheroes

Whether we’re talking about Batman and his becoming an orphan at an early age, or Superman and his relocation to another planet after losing his entire planet, all superheroes have a past. It is this past and how superheroes choose to deal with it that shapes the way they think and react to the world around them.

In general, most superheroes have a rough start to life, and they have the choice of how to react to the cards they have been dealt. Like you and me, superheroes have the choice to be victims of circumstance or to embrace their inner superhero.

When superheroes choose to be superheroes, they really own who they are and where they’ve come from, take the hurt and the pain of the past and move on. It may not be easy, but superheroes learn to let go of the things that hold them back (check out how you can do the same by reading our three-part series; Release Your Past to Embrace Your Life Now!)

To master your inner superhero, you have to be willing to choose the harder road. Opting to be a hero is a choice and the alternative is to be a victim. In your own life, this has a profound impact on what you do and how you act.

Superheroes Never Give Up!

Every superhero has times when they feel powerless. The situation and the circumstances get the best of them and they end up battered and bruised. It is this scene in the movies where superheroes again have the choice to fold in the towel and give up or dust themselves off to stand up and face their reviles. A perfect example of this is in the 2019 superhero movie Captain Marvel (if you haven’t seen this montage scene check out the first 41 seconds of this YouTube clip below).

Your strength is the continuing persistence and determination to never give up. If you can hold onto just this and keep on getting up no matter how many times life beats, you down with a broomstick you will be able to do anything. Remember the only difference between success and failure is the choice to get back up when you’ve fallen down and keep on trying. This is the inner strength and superpower of the superhero!

Superheroes Know Their Strengths

As a superhero you will want to know what your strengths are and use them often and wisely. We all have our own strengths, be they strengths of character (kindness, generosity, the ability to stand up for yourself and others) or talents (like playing an instrument, the gift of mathematics, or a passion for people). Working out what your strengths are helps you to help yourself and others. It also helps you to be the best you you can be.

You are as unique and special person, each one of you and you have many things that you are good at. If you are compassionate, the world needs more compassion. If you are kind, the world needs more kindness. If you have a talent in baking or sewing, chemistry or basketball, you should be embracing these strengths and using them.

But there are times when we lose our way and can’t figure out what our strengths are, if this is you, DustyDreamerHQ is here to help, to start off with, download our free DreamBuilding 101 Manual. This will help you in discovering your superhero strengths!

Superheroes Recognize Their Kryptonite

There is a flip side to every coin and being a superhero is no different. Mastering your inner superhero isn’t just about flashy superpowers and fight scenes, it’s also about knowing where your weaknesses are. If you are Superman or Supergirl, then your weakness is kryptonite. If you are a mere mortal like me then you will have other weaknesses that you need to recognize and be aware of.

Knowing that you have a weakness in a particular area helps us to avoid putting ourselves in situations where we can be harmed. Whatever your kryptonite is (a situation, a person, a substance, an emotion) if you let it get near to you it will weaken your defenses and ultimately bring you harm.

So the best thing to do is work out what your kryptonite is, what your weaknesses are, and make a plan to combat these unhealthy areas of your life. This may mean making some changes to the way you do things, or avoiding certain situations, whatever the case may be recognizing your kryptonite and acknowledging its negative power over you is the first step to becoming the truly powerful superhero you really are.

Superheroes Set the Right Example

Superheros are symbols of hope, of persisting when times are tough, of doing the right thing even when it’s incredibly hard to do so, in essence, superheroes set the right example for those around them. When superheroes have a choice to make, they often make the ones that those around them wish they would have made. Everyone looks to superheroes because they are brave and show courage, they fight for justice and have some kind of integrity. Ultimately, superheroes are a mirror to us about how we’d like ourselves to be because they set the (generally) right example.

For you to master your inner superhero you too should try to set the right example in your life. Live with integrity, speak with truth, show kindness, be brave when required, have confidence in yourself, and never give up! There are so many good qualities of superheroes that we could mention here, but why not make a list of the qualities you admire. Once you have your list why not try to work on showing more of these to the world around you.

Master Your Inner Superhero in a Nutshell

In your life you can choose to be anything you want to be, you can choose to be a victim of your circumstances, or you can choose to be your own superhero. It is a choice you make each and every minute of every day. From minute to minute you can choose to be the driver of your own life and keep on trying despite the obstacles that you face.

It may be difficult to keep on going but to master your inner superhero you have to be determined to get back up after falling down and change whatever you don’t like. Determination is your super power! In addition, you need to take some time to figure out what your strengths are and where your weaknesses (aka kryptonite) lies. Then once you know these two things you can set the right example to others in your life and be a doer. Because superheroes don’t just talk about saving the world, they actually do something about it.

Now you don’t have to change the world in a big way, because your actions and attitudes create ripples outward to others. The small things you do can have a bigger effect on others than you think. Even the simple act of a smile can be the gift a stranger needs to know that things will be ok. You never know how that person may be feeling or how just this can change someone’s day.

So, you don’t have to be flashy and loud to be a superhero, all you have to do is just be you!
